title-line

Guinness World Record holder Raisa Mariam Rajan is an artist, architect, and entrepreneur. Art becomes the language of love and nature, and she outpours her soul on her canvas. The architect-artist combined consciousness that has a strong connection with nature defines Raisa’s artistic genius. She is born and brought up in UAE. The ancient architecture, cities, the spiritually significant paintings and sculptures in religious institutions, and the vast array of local art forms made Raisa ponder deep into her artistic self. She began nurturing her skills as she started traveling and exploring the world. Art for Raisa is “the world through her eyes” which is a statement through art. She advocates on the topic of sustainability.

She paints on various surfaces like canvas, glass, wood, and tiles using a multitude of mediums like natural colors, acrylic paints, ink art, charcoal, and many more. Raisa brings the essential harmony and peace that she finds in nature through the textures that she adds to her paintings which exude similar vibes. Her concepts and designs are connected to nature and human psychology. Raisa believes incorporating nature in art can bring novel transformation in how visual art is translated to establish a deep connection with human minds. Meanings people derive out of art thus making it aesthetically pleasing to their eyes and soul. For Raisa, art is a powerful medium to express herself. She likes to make strong statements about society, life, and the events that happen around her through her art. It acts like a deep meditation, a soul-searching process that plays a pivotal role in shaping herself as a woman. Women around the world are subconsciously programmed to suppress their emotions. They need to express all those subdued feelings and purge themselves.

Raisa truly believes in this Cathartic function of art. She also actively shares her texture art knowledge with special needs students. She can also read the different thoughts of her students while they paint, which has helped many to understand themselves. She is featured in 50 Artist in focus 2022 and 2023. Raisa was the concept creator and director of the Jumbo art project to celebrate the 50th national day called “The Journey of Jawhara”. She has exhibited her artworks in more than 40 exhibitions, 15 live arts around the world, workshops, and panel talks.
