The artist has created the entire artwork to create a visual appearance of a living root bridge, Cherrapunji. A living root bridge is a type of simple suspension bridge formed of living plant roots by tree shaping. They are handmade from the aerial roots of rubber fig trees peoples of the mountainous terrain along the southern part of the Shillong Plateau India. Living Root Bridge is tentatively listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once mature, some bridges can have as many as 50 or more people crossing and have a lifespan of several hundred years. They are stronger than any modern concrete bridge. This artwork is an attempt to foreground the practices that effectively blend nature and human efforts to create sustainable development in life. According to the artist, this kind of union with nature will help create a better future for mankind. This structure has played a remarkable role in the artist’s journey of becoming a sustainable artist. Her home country and its beautiful union with nature make the artist proud of being an Indian.
